What are travel articles?

Travel articles are essentially about a place, and that includes the people, landscape, weather, flora and fauna. The history, politics, culture and folklore are also part of the travel story. It is a genre that offers wide latitude for communications. Some travel stories are personal essays, adding the dimension of the writer’s inner life. Humor is allowed, and indeed prized, in travel articles. Service-oriented travel articles are dedicated to providing the reader with useful information. Stories about the poignancy and similarity of the human experience can be told against a travel backdrop. With such a rich tapestry of descriptive possibility in each travel story, a writer can really stretch.
